Bonjour mes amies! So much has changed since I began sharing (some) of my life online. When I began posting online, I was a 9-5er, in theory. In theory meaning, I was actually up at 03:45 am to record an OOTD (outfit of the day) and ensure that I made my 05:00 commuter train to get to the office well before 07:00.
The mes amies who joined me then related to me on beaucoup levels. I was a working mom, I was going into an office everyday and I too had a god-awfully long commute.
I had built a community and camaraderie based on style (vintage week of OOTDs photo shown in cover photo), traditional employment, and a “we do what we must” mentality.
Mes amies were avec moi as I missed trains, was visibly tired, did homework avec Jujuthecamerakid while sitting on a bench, and showed up as best as I could in the typical “rat race.”
So much has changed since then. I’ve become a mom (again.) I’ve lost ma mere, and I am designing a life that I find fulfillment.
For a couple of years, mes amies would message, “Are you still working?” I would respond in a Jessie-very Capital Hill-esq manner, i.e., responding but not answering the question. Subconsciously, I knew that many who found comfort in my exhausting and trés, trés relatable life would no longer relate or find said comfort in me if they knew I was now an entrepreneur who, outside of being forced to wake up avec Mademoiselle Babiccina, no longer had that “struggle.”
I could travel whenever I wanted with only one parameter, mes enfants. I could sit and drink cappuccinos (or champagne) for hours in Paris sans fear of missing a TEAMS call. I could essentially plan my days the way I wanted to.
In addition to now being an entrepreneur, I’m also in a different, more intentional space in my life. I shared via a blog post (click here to read) about one of the many purposes I am more focused on. That purpose was NOT met avec open arms amongst mes amies.
I began to receive messages along the lines of “I came here for work outfit ideas and fashion, not to hear you brag about your new life.” “If I wanted therapy I would go to a therapist.”
I was significantly taken aback at some of the comments from screen names that I recognized and consider to be “mes amies.”
This sprinkling of “times have changed” reached a head during my last Louis Vuitton raffle drawing. When there was a glitch in the software, I spun the wheel again to select an official number (click here to watch the LIVE raffle.) The comments left on that post were so distasteful, so much so that I blocked any additional comments. I only left the post public so those who entered the raffle but were not in attendance could rewatch.
“I knew she was a scammer, that’s how she’s always able to go to Paris.”
“See, this is why I don’t fool with these influences.” Those were the nicest of the nasty comments.
Seeing messages of that nature from names that I thought I’d built relationships with hurt.
But after having time to process and understand the larger picture, I realized those people were looking for their “out.”
Just as in a relationship when your partner breaks up with you for not dotting your lowercase “j.” You know internally that breaking up is something they wanted to do, but they needed a “reason.”
I have the same essence as the person I was when I started this platform. My personality, humor, and kind heart are all still here. The only difference is I’ve taken the chance to pursue my higher calling and invest in my dreams.
Leaving a space that no longer serves you is never an issue; we must all do what is best for us mentally and emotionally. But the need to announce said exit with discouraging messages is where the problem arises.
Until today, I used to say, “I lost so many mes amies when I shared ________ (insert event.) But now I say, I no longer served those mes amies and that’s okay.
In life, we grow, and we have to accept that we may have to let go.
Mes amies, those who want the best for you will continue to want the best for you, and that doesn’t mean that they necessarily have to stay around to watch. They will leave your life in peace without creating a hostile environment.
I wish you all the absolute best during this season of your life, mes amies and I cannot merci beaucoup you enough for being here avec moi as I grow.
Remember, if there is ever a time that you want to speak to someone avec an unbiased ear (moi) about goal-setting and dreaming larger, s’il vous plâit do not hesitate to book a 1:1 call avec moi. To date, I have hosted beaucoup calls avec mes amies ranging from content creator brainstorming sessions, switching careers, finding interest (that could result in income), living a more intentional life, and simply finding joy; click here to book.
It’s ok to let go mes amies; no explanation or “reason” is needed.
Ciao for now

Wow . . . the ‘they needed an out’ is thought provoking. Like there are some many influencers/creator that I have stopped following simply bc they were no longer an interest but to be mean and blatant above it was never on my agenda. I didn’t NEED a out. I saw the direction they wanted to go and I was ok with it. Heck I got my own life to manage I’m for darn sure not about to manage my expectations for their choice of content they put out. A former Pastor used to always say People are the answer and People are the problem. Im sure the saying originated from some self help book but nevertheless it is something I keep in the arsenal when I want ‘quit’ people. lol. ok soapbox over. I pray you stay encouraged, continue to follow your dreams and passions, and that the monetary rewards follow. I appreciate watching your journey. its so organic.
I am so here for the soapbox! Merci, for sharing the quote from your Pastor; I will keep that in mind. We all grow, and we are expected to enter new spaces and shed old ones. It’s the mean exits that are unsettling. I can’t thank you enough for your kindness, time here and well wishes!
So so proud of you sister and if you ever need an ear I’m here for you ALWAYS I LOVE YOU hugs and I’m praying for your NEW LEVEL 🙏❤️🤗
I love you more! Merci beaucoup for always being there for me!
U know I am always here to be a moderator or customer service agent for the 1-800-CapAgency lol. When I first read the post, I was so excited becuz I totally remember the joys I felt at 0600 with u being the FIRST person on my TL stories n I was so inspired knowing you got up soooo early to show up for us EVERYDAY!! I truly don’t understand how folks can’t just leave in peace becuz u have operated on nothing but good intentions n been more upfront n honest than many of influencers. The raffle idea is genius n the story behind ur why’ssss doesn’t go unnoticed. In the end, u are totally right-u can’t please em all. If forever the reason they can’t relate nor celebrate the avenues u share, there’s no love lost. Everybody can’t go! Just know u can’t quit me!!
MERCIIIIIIIIII! I have learned so many life lessons since being online and I am forever and continuously great for the mezzzzami who continue to lovely grow avec moi! You know we are locked in!
Thank you for sharing this as I am relatively new to your community. I’ve seen all too many times as we morph and grow and go in another direction (or on the trajectory planned) people get jealous and project onto us. Sad to see really but at the same time- it just *is*. Things do change, people change and sometimes the audience does not want or like change but they can watch someone else. You’ll continue to gain new mes amies that enjoy the content you are currently exploring. To each their own and c’est la vie (or is that too cliche?).
Merci, for joining me! It’s been such a process. For the most part, I have an extremely close-knit community, so to see some of the things mes amies said about me was so disheartening. We grow apart; we must let go, and I must realize that not everyone will do so gracefully. Mais, c’est la vie…and it’s never too cliché ici avec moi!
Wow I was busy with Christmas preps and missed the raffle so I had no idea all of this occurred. I’m so sorry you experienced that negativity. As usual you are so gracious about it. Thank you for all you do. Continue to dream big, aspire and by extension, inspire.
The blessings are pouring in! I appreciate you so much for your time!
You will continue to be a shining light. Your smile radiates and uplifts the community, be well, be amazing, be You!
I most certainly will! MERCIIIIIII!
Thank you for your transparency. I’m not as active as I would like to be to leave comments under your videos, and I watch videos when I can. But I do like how you are just you. I appreciate how you are going where God leads you. You’re living your life and in classy way. Trolls will be trolls and just overall mean people will just spew their negativity . It’s okay to let go and it is. Keep doing you Jessie ma’am !!!!! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿. You have mes amies ( my French is terrible 😂, my spanish is better 😂) who are here to support you. Many blessings to you and your family and have a Happy New Year
MERCIIIIIII for your continued support! Comments or not, I know that the love and support is there from you! Have an amazing New Year and lets continue to walk in our purpose!
You are such a beautiful spirit!!! Let Nothing stand in the way of your dreams! The Favor of God is over you. You have not forgotten from whence He brought you.
