One of my favorite practices that has carried me from a cubicle avec multiple espresso makers (oui, I packed them up when I left) to speaking on international stages and sipping cappuccinos in Paris cafés. It’s not luck. It’s visualization, manifestation, and of course prayer.
Seeing Before Believing
Here’s the thing: your brain doesn’t really know the difference between something vividly imagined and something real. That’s why athletes rehearse winning in their minds before the game, why CEOs picture themselves closing deals, and why I, before leaving my federal job would literally see myself walking into events as a “Global Creative Director” long before I had the title.
Visualization is a mental rehearsal for the life you want. It’s like trying on your goals before they arrive.
Why It Works for Me (And You)
- It Brings Clarity
Saying “I want success” is vague. But when you see yourself boarding that flight to Milan with your vintage Louis Vuitton carry-on, or signing the contract for your first brand collaboration, suddenly your goal has edges. It’s no longer blurry. it’s a picture you can work toward. - It Fuels Motivation
When I picture my wins, standing on stage, penning my signature in a new passport, or even hosting my $10 Closet Sale, I feel it before it happens. That emotion fuels the fire in real life. - It Builds Confidence
The first time I was invited to speak at a university, I had already “been there” a hundred times in my mind. I’d walked across the stage, felt the mic in my hand, and heard the applause. By the time the actual moment came, it felt like déjà vu, not a debut. - It Aligns Your Actions
When you’ve already envisioned yourself glowing in that future, your daily choices naturally fall in line. You say yes to the small opportunities, no to distractions, and you move with intention.
A Quick Practice (That I Actually Use)
Here’s what I do:
- I prepare a cappuccino (naturally).
- I close my eyes and breathe.
- I picture the scene of my next big goal, what I’m wearing, the sounds around me, the people clapping or nodding in the room.
- Most importantly, I feel it. That pride, that joy, that deep exhale of “I did it.”
I let it live in me for five minutes, like it’s happening right now. And then I get back to work, fueled and focused.
The Secret Sauce: Visualization + Action
Let me be clear: you can’t just visualize and then nap (though I am a nap advocate). Visualization only works when you pair it with action. It’s the push that gets you off the couch, the reminder of why you’re saying oui , and the anchor when things get hard.
So the next time you doubt yourself, stop. Close your eyes. See yourself on the other side of that finish line. Because once you can see it, you can believe it and when you believe it, mes amies, you can make it real.
