From Perfume to Cappuccinos: How Luxury Brands Are Redefining Access

Let’s talk about a shift I’ve been watching closely (and sipping my way through): the rise of luxury cafés.

Bonjour mes amies! For decades, perfume was the first “taste” of luxury. A bottle of Chanel No. 5 or Dior J’adore gave you access to a world you might not yet be ready — or able — to buy into fully. It was your entry point. Your first step into the brand’s story.

Aujourd’hui? That same role belongs to the café.

I’ve experienced it firsthand: cappuccinos at Armani’s café in Dubai, an oatmilk “latte” at Fendi’s in Doha, brunch at Ralph’s Coffee in New York. Each one was an immersion. Not just caffeine, but an atmosphere designed to engage every sense — the smell of fresh espresso, the feel of the marble counters, the playlist curated to perfection, the monogrammed latte art just waiting for the camera roll.

It’s no longer only about what you wear; it’s about what you experience

This is where luxury branding has shifted. It’s no longer only about what you wear; it’s about what you experience. A café becomes a living, breathing extension of the brand’s heritage. You can taste it, touch it, hear it, share it, and, most importantly, remember it.

And here’s the brilliance: these cafés democratize luxury without diluting it. An 8 euro cappuccino gives you access to a world of design, storytelling, and heritage, a small but powerful bridge between aspiration and ownership. For the brand, it creates emotional loyalty and positions them as part of your everyday life, not just your “someday splurge.”

And this is only the beginning. If cafés are today’s gateway, branded wellness clubs, or even members-only co-working spaces, just as luxury design houses have already entered hospitality (Louis Vuitton Hotel in hashtag#Paris, Palazzo Versace Dubai, Bvlgari Hotel in hashtag#London, and Armani Hotel Dubai, to name a few.) Imagine a future where living, working, and recharging all happen within the ecosystem of a single luxury house.

Mes amies, one truth remains: people might forget last season’s runway, but they will always remember how a cappuccino or a moment made them feel.

So, tell me: do you see luxury cafés as a passing trend, or the blueprint for luxury’s next era, and have you visited one?

Ciao for now 💋
